Bantams Fire 40 Shots and Lose in Meaford
Submitted By Sean Cassidy on Saturday, November 03, 2018
The score was certainly not reflective of the overall game in the Bantam’s 8-4 loss in Meaford last night. The team did start out the game a little flat-footed which cost them some early goals but they continued to push hard outshooting their opponents by a wide margin, pumping 40 shots onto the Georgian Shores net.

The “TSN Turning Point” of the game was during a power play when the Bantams allowed two consecutive short-handed goals which seemed to buoy Georgian Shores confidence.

Coach Darryl Bell did an excellent job of keeping his players positive and disciplined as they played a Georgian Shores team that was relying on chirping and chippy play as part of their game plan. As a result, Georgian Shores took the bulk of the penalties including a 10 minute misconduct for inappropriate language and the Bantam Twisters, under Coach Bell’s guidance, kept their composure and continued to press and pepper their opponent’s net with rubber.

Unfortunately, the hockey gods weren’t with the Twisters last night as many of the rebounds ended up on the line, near the line, or just shy of the net and credit also must be given to the Georgian Shores netminder who was kept busy for the entire 40 minutes.

O. Thompson played an outstanding game for the Twisters at both ends of the rink last night netting the first two goals and adding an assist on C. Bell’s beautiful final goal of the game.

The younger AP’s Coach Bell pulled up, A. Bryan and A. Kellam, both played gritty tenacious games and took the play to the Georgian Shore’s net and generated numerous excellent opportunities that just wouldn’t go in last night.

O. Thompson            2 goals 1 assist
Q. Agar                    1 goal
C. Bell                1 goal
A. Kellam        1 assist
