2020/2021 Hockey Season Comes to an Early End
We have recently found out that the ice in the community centre has been removed. Which officially closes the book on our 2020/21 hockey season in Grand Valley.
There will be an Annual General Meeting in the coming months - stay tuned for further information and please plan to attend (virtually, in all likelihood).
The executive team is working to calculate the ice time that we used prior to the shut down and preparing the appropriate refunds for families.
Only one of the two fundraising activities was able to happen, so each family will be refunded for the remainder (chocolate sales was worth $60 of the mandatory $110 fundraising fee, therefore $50 of this fee will be refunded).
Recent communication from the OHF (Ontario Hockey Federation) has shared that players will be permitted to register in another centre for the last part of the season (February and beyond) if their home centre is not able to offer programming. At this time, we do not know the plans and capabilities of our neighbouring centres to offer additional places, nor do we know what colour zone our Public Health Unit will be in once the lock down is over.
All of us (executive team, players, parents, coaches, and extended families) are disappointed that the season in Grand Valley has to come to an early end (again!). We certainly tried our best to offer some kind of hockey to the kids in our community despite the restrictions in place.
Looking ahead, in order for Grand Valley to offer a quality hockey program next season, it is necessary to start planning soon. Please consider putting your hand up to volunteer and let's bring hockey back to the kids in our community!
Thank you so much for your understanding and patience this season! We hope to see everyone back at the rink in the fall.
Sincerely,
Grand Valley Minor Hockey Executive
