We hope you and yours are keeping well and safer during these uncertain times. I wanted to touch base with our hockey community with updates regarding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and our Awards Banquet Ceremony that we had scheduled for this month (which are cancelled for the originally scheduled dates due to the current situation)
AGM
We received directives from the OMHA late last week regarding AGM's and options for holding them. Typically AGM's are to be held for our type of organization within 15 months of the last AGM however due to the current situation with COVID-19 and the restrictions and emergency order the government has put in place we have been given the permission to extend that deadline. The other option that was presented by the OMHA was to host a virtual AGM.
Our executive met and voted virtually this week and we have decided that we feel it is in the best interest of our organization to try and wait to have an in-person AGM when the restrictions have been lifted. Our hope would be that this could take place in July or earlier depending on how the situation evolves however this may be optimistic. We will keep you posted in the coming weeks/months with updates as they become available in terms of a possible date for an in-person AGM.
Awards Banquet
We have come up with an alternative so that our players can be recognized with the past season still fresh in their memories. Obviously and in-person banquet is out of the question at the moment however we would like to release the names of the award winners to our players/membership and our community so that they can be acknowledged. We will be reaching out to coaches shortly so that they can decide how to best inform their team about players who will be receiving awards and once that has been done we will be posting the award winners on our website/social and sending an email to our membership. When we are able to get the physical trophies and awards completed we will make arrangements to deliver them to the recipients.
We thank you all for your patience and flexibility during these challenging times, we know this was not the end of the season our players, parents and community were expecting.
Kind Regards,
Amy Steele
