Small Town Hockey
Ah rumours, rumours, rumours. It would seem that rumours are inevitable in any town - who is dating whom, who said something, who didn't say something, etc., and Grand Valley Minor Hockey is not exempt. Before things get out of hand and we start to hear that GVMH is pregnant and driving a sports car, let's take a look at the facts:
First of all, Grand Valley Minor Hockey is staying Grand Valley Minor Hockey. At the close of last season, an overwhelming majority voted to keep minor hockey strong in Grand Valley. Our 2014/2015 season is coming up and we are neither amalgamating nor folding. However, we are saddened to announce that GVMH will not have teams at either the Midget or Bantam levels this year. Simply put, there are not enough interested players at these ages. That said, we will definitely be rostering teams at the Mite, Tyke, Novice, Atom, and Peewee levels. We are also incredibly excited about our new Girls' Development Program which has almost 20 registrants!
The bottom line is that the time has passed for all the rumours. Let's all band together to give our players a season of fun, high-quality hockey. We have a solid foundation in place and let's all do our best to keep small town hockey alive.
